## Short answer

The PDF Reader by PdfPixels opens PDF files directly in your browser with zoom and page navigation. Drop a PDF in and read it instantly — the file never leaves your device.

## About

PDF Reader opens any PDF directly in your browser so you can read it without installing software or creating an account. Pages render locally with zoom controls and page navigation, which makes it the fast way to check a document on a borrowed computer, a school Chromebook, or a phone without a PDF app. Because rendering happens entirely in your browser, the file is never uploaded to a server — nothing leaves your device.

## Key features

- Opens PDFs in the browser — no app or plugin install
- Zoom in and out, jump to any page, scroll page by page
- Fully local rendering: the file is never uploaded to a server
- Works on phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and locked-down work PCs
- Free with no signup and no watermarks

## How to use

1. **Choose your PDF** — Click the dropzone and pick a PDF from your device — or drag it in.
2. **Read and navigate** — Scroll through pages, zoom to a comfortable size, and jump between pages.
3. **Close when done** — Nothing is saved anywhere; closing the tab clears the document from memory.

## FAQ

### Is my PDF uploaded to a server when I use PDF Reader?

No. Rendering happens entirely in your browser with JavaScript. The file stays on your device, which makes the reader safe for confidential documents.

### Can I edit a PDF with the reader?

The reader is for viewing. To change content, use the edit tools — Sign PDF, Fill PDF, or Add Page Numbers — then download the updated file.

### Why do some pages render slowly?

Very large or image-heavy PDFs take longer to draw. Navigate page by page; each page renders on demand so memory stays low.

### Is PDF Reader free?

Yes — free with no signup. Because processing is local, there are no server rate limits on reading.

## Limits

- PDF tools: 50 MB per file. Merge: 20 files / 100 MB total / 1000 pages.
